Program Description

Event Details

This service-learning program offers teens ages 12-18 a flexible way to earn up to 25 service hours while learning more about community organizations and their impact.

The five-week summer series includes a virtual workshop along with service projects for each participating organization. Teen Summer of Service (SOS) runs from June 1 to August 1, which is when projects are due at each teen’s selected home library branch.

Virtual programs will take place Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. on the dates listed below:

June 3 - SOS Teen Orientation Meeting

June 10 – Lee County Solid Waste

June 17 – Lee County Parks and Recreation

June 24 – UF/IFAS Extension Lee County

July 8 – Emergency Medical Services

Each workshop features a brief presentation, followed by group discussions and activities. Teens can choose from various service projects, earning up to 25 hours total.

Space is limited to 100 participants, and registration is required. Teens must register online before June 1 via the Library’s events calendar, but spots may fill sooner. During registration, teens select a home branch to pick up their project supply kits and then must return completed projects to the same location by August 1.

Supply kits can be picked up from their indicated home branch starting May 27th.

Participants will receive a letter verifying their hours and participation in the program on or after August 7th.

Questions relating to Teen SOS should be directed to Judi Alvarado (jalvarado2@leegov.com

Registration opens May 1, 2026.
