China and the U.S.
For the past ten years, the United States and China have been locked in a competition for who has the greatest global influence. One major point of contention is the status of Taiwanese sovereignty, which has become even more relevant recently with the possibility that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine may prompt China to take similar action regarding Taiwan. How will the United States engage a China which is increasingly seeking to expand its sphere of influence?
The Great Decisions Discussion Group is a weekly, 8-part series focusing on current international issues faced by the United States. Each week the discussion group will watch a video on an issue and then engage in stimulating conversation.
Our facilitator will be educator and long-time Great Discussions leader Klaus-Peter Voss. His experience with world affairs comes from a career spanning over 30 years in education and also from traveling extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Australia, the United States and Canada.
