Brief Description of Event
For many people, the word "feminism" makes them think of a movement of the past that has little significance for their lives today. But those who spend time with feminist literature tend to find it highly relevant, illuminating, and personally transformative. Organized by three faculty members at Florida Gulf Coast University, this reading group is a new space where people can explore feminist literature together. Discussion at each monthly meeting focuses on one short assigned reading. For our May meeting, we will be discussing the essay, "We Should All Be Feminists" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. No background knowledge is needed to participate, and people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds are welcome.
