Brief Description of Event
The SWFL Community Feminist Reading Group is a new group created to provide a space for people to explore feminist literature together. Reading both classic and contemporary texts, our main focus is on thinking through the relevance of these texts for our lives today. People of all backgrounds, genders, and ages are welcome to participate. For our October meeting, we will be reading and discussing two essays by Toni Morrison: "Nobel Prize Speech" (widely available online in both print and audio recordings) and "I wanted to carve out a world both culture specific and race-free" an essay in The Guardian newspaper (also available online). Everyone is welcome, and tea and coffee will be served.
