Brief Description of Event
The SWFL Community Feminist Reading Group is a new group created to provide a space for people to explore feminist literature together. Reading both classic and contemporary texts, our main focus is on thinking through the relevance of these texts for our lives today. People of all backgrounds, genders, and ages are welcome to participate. For our September meeting, we will be reading and discussing "Feminism for the 99%: A Manifesto" by Cinzia Arruzza, Tithi Bhattacharya, and Nancy Fraser. We will reflect on the authors' claim that feminism is a movement for everyone, and that it remains relevant today only as a movement dedicated to universal human liberation. The essay is published as a small book by Verso Press and can also be ordered through the public library system. Everyone is welcome, and tea and coffee will be served.
