Brief Description of Event

Marilyn Cervantes will offer information about who’s eligible, how much can be borrowed, and what payment options are available. She’ll also break down the relevant conditions regarding home ownership and debt, and offer insight into some of the legalities, like what the owner is responsible for in terms of upkeep or what happens if the home is no longer the principal residence. The goal is for attendees to get the information they need to determine whether a reverse mortgage is the best choice for their circumstances and their families. Counseling is required for people considering a reverse mortgage. It’s intended to help them understand the terms, repayment options, and roles of spouses and heirs. Cervantes, a specialist on aging, will also go over what’s involved with that requirement.
