Event Details

This insightful presentation will cover the critical role of prescribed fire in Florida, presented by Sarah Denison Williams, Community Education Manager with Big Waters Land Trust. Participants will gain an understanding of how fire has shaped the landscape of Florida for thousands of years and continues to be an essential tool for land managers today. We will discuss how prescribed fire helps maintain healthy habitats, supports biodiversity, and reduces the risk of wildfires. We will also highlight the importance of protecting Florida's natural areas for the well-being of wildlife and the people who depend on these special places for recreation, water quality, and resilience. Participants will gain a deeper appreciation of fire’s role in sustaining the ecological balance in Florida and the ongoing efforts to preserve our unique natural heritage.
