Event Details
Our seminar will feature the strange and unusual punishments in early American history. In colonial times, very little distinction was made between sin and crime. The emphasis was on morality issues and teaching repentance. By the 18th and 19th centuries, the emphasis shifted to crimes against property and individuals with emphasis on restitution and/or punishment.
