Program Description

Event Details

Mao's victory in 1947 was a surprise. Nixon's 1972 China visit and Deng's 1979 state visit to the US opened China to the world. Western capitalism, not communism, then made China the "World's Factory" of a global economy. Thirty-four months of "zero COVID" is slowing China's growth and frustrating the new urbanites who are the beneficiaries of that growth. Perhaps a crack or two is beginning to show?

As an international lawyer, historian, and genealogist, British citizen Thomas Tyrrell presents a unique perspective of current events to our SWFL community.
