Program Description

Event Details

Many gardeners prefer to purchase seeds every year. However, saving seeds from hard-to-find varieties or carefully selected plants helps to ensure the vigor and heritage of the variety. Saving seeds from your plants requires selecting suitable plants to collect from, harvesting seeds at an appropriate time, and storing seeds properly over winter. Good seed may mean the difference between success and failure in your garden. Learn the finer tips for collecting, saving, storing, and planting seeds to have a successful garden.

What do I do with seeds in a packet that I didn’t plant this year? How do I collect seeds to use or share from my garden?  How do I safely store seeds?  These questions and more will be answered by Lee County Master Gardener Volunteer, Bonnie Jean Clancy.
