Local acupuncturists Dr. Evan Mahoney and Young Ok Mahoney, will present a program on traditional Korean medicine. The program will cover important historical figures in the development of acupuncture such as Monk Saam, who according to legend discovered the mystery of acupuncture through meditation, and Heo Im, the father of trigger point acupuncture. A brief history of the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 and the enduring medical traditions from this time will be discussed. The program will also explore the use of meditation for conditions such as PTSD and the mind-body connection espoused by Dr. John Sarno. Join us to learn about the therapeutic benefits of Korean acupuncture and associated meditation techniques.
The health and safety of our community members are of the utmost importance to Lee County Government. With this being said, in an abundance of caution, Lee County will be suspending all senior programming for the next 30 days. This immediate suspension of activities aligns with the State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control’s recommendation to avoid mass events at large, public facilities and the particular vulnerability of our older residents. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”
