Frida and Diego: The Lives and Times of Kahlo and Rivera

These two historical characters lived exciting lives in very exciting times: The Mexican Revolution; the mural movement; the birth of communism; a love relationship; a horrible accident and chronic pain; extra-marital affairs and on and on. This lecture will present how these events influenced our characters and how our characters colored our perception of those events. While concentrating on historical and personal events, we will use artworks from Frida and Diego to illustrate the narrative. This lecture will enhance your appreciation and understanding of these iconic individuals.

José Juves is a student of history and of the interactions of people and historical events. For over 15 years he has lectured extensively on such topics as the History of Cuba; the History of Spain; Human Genetics; The Lives and Times of Goya and Picasso and the Physiology of Birds at the University of Pittsburgh and FGCU.
