Event Details
Celebrate America's 250th year with Emily Ann Thompson, as she performs fiddle music and traditional songs from the time of the early American settlers, focusing on fiddle music from the birth of our country in 1776 to the early 1900s. This program includes Old-time, Appalachian, Cajun & Bluegrass fiddling, American folk songs, and African-American spirituals.
Emily demonstrates how traditional music of many cultures - including Irish, Scottish, French, and African - have influenced the new American styles. Emily plays violin, does clogging, and sings. Her program is very dynamic, energetic, and educational, and often people can’t resist clapping, tapping, singing, and even sometimes dancing!
Emily's music will be available for purchase at the end of her presentation.
