Event Details
Even in a “Brave New World,” modern artists, sculptors, and dramatists continued to experience fears of Totalitarianism and suffer war-zone trauma. We will look at life through the lens of J.P. Sartre and Beckett, as well as in paintings of Basquiat, Frankenthaler, de Kooning, Rothko, and Pollock. Deconstructionism, Art Brut, Neo-Dada, Graffiti, and Abstract Expressionism were different forms of “art therapy” to accompany a general sense of alienation and loss on a seemingly rudderless planet.
