Today's Topic: From Gaulle to Tony Blair

The EU is unique. It is neither a Federation nor a new state, nor is it an international organization like the UN. For the first time in history, European countries have abolished historic borders over which they have fought endless wars. By a treaty between them, they agreed to share sovereignty over common institutions established for benefit of all citizens.
