Event Details

In three talks, we will explain the origins of the European Union in 1945 and what it has become today. Then he will explain the political and economic future for the EU post Brexit.

Today's Topic: The Long Road Home

Allied victory in 1945 was not the end of the War but only the ‘beginning of the end’ for millions in Europe for whom the years 1946-50 were as dreadful as the war itself. Many in Europe never came home and if they did their home was a ruin or was no longer theirs. Someone else now called it home. Borders moved, towns and cities changed their names.
