Program Description

Event Details

What makes music so universal? Are the music rules so different worldwide, or is there something it seeks to express about all of us? Come and experience the racing dance rhythms of Argentinian tangos, the interweaving lines of a great Baroque sonata nearly lost in the Bombing of Dresden, a Russian tone-painting inspired by the nuclear mysticism of Salvador Dali, and brand new music by Edwin Culver, created by remixing the street sounds of modern China. And there's much, much more! Who knows, perhaps you'll discover a part of the world you never knew existed—or maybe even something about yourself awakened by this performance of Classical Guitar Music From Around The World.

About the Performer:

Edwin J. Culver is a classical guitarist, composer, and music teacher in Sarasota, Florida. He performs recitals, delivers lectures, and composes original works of classical music. Culver hails from Flushing, Michigan, where he taught himself guitar at the age of 16. He didn’t take formal lessons until attending Hillsdale College, where he studied under Larry Williams, Russell Nebelung, and Daniel Palmer. At Hillsdale, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance.
