Program Description

Event Details

Butterfly gardening is designed to create an environment that attracts butterflies, inviting them to lay eggs as well. Some plants are fed upon by adult butterflies, and others as caterpillar host plants on which the adult butterflies lay their eggs. The caterpillar will not eat and flourish if it does not have access to one of its specific host plants and will die. Various Florida native host and nectar plants are discussed for the most common butterflies that visit Southwest Florida.
