Program Description

Event Details

Our selection for this month is Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese, both a heartbreaking account of a dark chapter in history and a moving coming-of-age story.

Saul Indian Horse, a First Nations man, reflects on his painful past while in treatment for alcoholism. As he recounts his life as a northern Ojibway boy—his forced separation from family, years in a residential school, and fleeting escape through hockey—Saul’s story reveals the deep wounds of racism and cultural loss, as well as his search for healing and identity.
