Program Description

Event Details

The Vietnam War defined America in the second half of the 20th century. So contentious was the conflict that for years afterwards the country suffered marches, riots and even deaths as a result of the turmoil. "We Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War" is a tribute to the music that helped soldiers and veterans connect to each other and to life back home, and to cope with the complexities of the war they had been sent to fight.

Join us to honor those who fought in the Vietnam War and listen to songs that include "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by Peter, Paul and Mary, "Detroit City" by Bobby Bare, "Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding, "The Letter" by The Box Tops,  “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” by Nancy Sinatra, "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplance, "Blowin' In The Wind" by Bob Dylan, and "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" by The Animals.
