Event Details

Join award-winning author Jane Cleland as she leads this one-hour writing workshop, followed by a book signing.

You'll explore how the most unpredictable ideas can weave the most captivating narratives, delve into the transformative power of a flexible mindset on your writing journey, and venture into the exciting world of conceptual blending. These techniques will affirm your irreplaceable value in the world of storytelling, showcasing how our creative abilities can allow us to harmonize seemingly unrelated ideas into a compelling, unified storyline—something no AI or algorithm can replicate or predict. Ms. Cleland will provide plenty of examples so that you leave the workshop with actionable ideas you can put to work immediately in your own writing. The workshop will be followed by a Q&A session and copies of her books will be available for purchase.

Jane K. Cleland is an award-winning author who writes both fiction and nonfiction. Her fiction includes the long-running Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery series. Her nonfiction includes the Agatha-Award-winning bestsellers, Mastering Suspense, Structure & Plot and Mastering Plot Twists. She’s a Contributing Editor at Writer’s Digest Magazine and the chair of the Black Orchid Novella Award (BONA). Cleland also teaches writing at the university level.
